Sicily and the Aeolian Islands
June 12th-19th, 2027
The following is our projected itinerary, and is subject to weather, wind, and the whims of the Captain and crew (that's you!)
Day 1:
Arrive at Portorosa Marina in Furnari, Sicily after 5pm/ That evening we will take a cooking lesson in a Sicilian home, learning how to make some Sicilian specialties and sampling the local Prosecco. We will stay at the marina this evening.

Day 2:
After breakfast aboard the boat and a mandatory walk through with the charter company, we sail out to Vulcano. Vulcano is an active volcanic island, known for its thermal mud grottos and natural sulphur springs. We will enjoy these natural wonders and anchor here for the evening.
Day 3:
After a leisurely breakfast, we set out for Filicudi. Filicudi is a wild, rugged, and quiet island with trails, prehistoric village remnants, and caves to explore and snorkel. After a day of choosing your own adventure here, we will anchor in a nearby quiet cove for the evening.

Day 4:
Today we head east to the lush island of Salina. There are many options here for your day: Salina is known for its capers, and Malvasian Volcanic wine. We can tour a vineyard, hike the trails, or explore the Cliffs of Polar, where there are boat houses carved right into the rocky cliffs.
Day 5:
Sailing from Salina to Stromboli, home to Europe's second largest active volcano. We will have dinner ashore tonight, and enjoy watching the nighttime lava eruptions from the deck of the boat!
Day 6:
Today we sail to Panarea, the smallest island in the Aeolian chain. A UNESCO world heritage site, this island is car free and known for its beautiful whitewashed buildings and crystal clear water. Spend the day exploring the island and its beaches. We will anchor here tonight, giving you the option to head to the famous nightclub here, known for its sweeping views and nightlife since the 1960s.

Day 7:
Heading back towards our marina, we will have a swim stop at Lisca Bianca or Bottaro, one of the uninhabited islands off of Panarea. They are famous for their underwater fumaroles, where you can swim through natural warm, sulfurous bubbles that rise from volcanic vents under the sea. We coast back into Furnari for the evening, either choosing to have our last dinner together ashore or on the boat.

Who is this trip for?
This type of trip is best for adventurous spirits who want to see the world from a different perspective and travel in one of the most romantic ways possible. Although the inside of the boat is welcoming and has plenty of space, we spend the majority of the time outdoors. It is important to know that although our chartered boats are excellent, being on a sailboat still feels more akin to "glamping" than being in a fancy hotel. We refrain from using the generator and AC at night, so that we can hear the ocean and peacefully watch the stars. Although best thought of as a structure for adventure rather than a guided tour, we strive to understand and engage with the cultures we visit, rather than simply pass through as tourists.
Ferd and I feel that cooking on a boat is one of the most fun parts of being on a voyage, and we will take the lead for meals so that you can enjoy having no timeline for your vacation. However, we do ask that you submit one dish per cabin ahead of the voyage that you would enjoy making for the group, and we will make sure that you have those ingredients aboard the boat to make one lunch or dinner during our week together. That said, this is not a requirement, simply an invitation.
If that all sounds like you're kind of trip, then this voyage is for you! Again, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out.
