Guadeloupe and the Saints

February 14th-21st, 2026

The following is our projected itinerary, and is subject to weather, wind, and the whims of the Captain and crew (that's you!)

Day 1:

Our voyage begins with check- in at the Marina Bas du Forte in Pointe-a-Pitre, beginning at 5pm on Saturday, February 14th. That evening, we will share our first meal together, have an introduction to the boat and the week's itinerary, as well as have a chance to walk around the town.

Day 3:

The Jacques Cousteau Marine Park is a quick morning sail from our anchorage, and we will spend the morning snorkeling the vibrant reef before sailing down to the village of Base- Terre. There is a famous night parade there on Lundi Gras Eve, known for it-s creativity, and we will dock with easy access to town to be able to join in with the evening's festivities.

Day 2:

Pointe-a- Pitre is the place to be on this day, known as Dimanche Gras, for a parade of local music and gorgeous costumes beginning at noon. A beautiful introduction into Caribbean Creole culture, you will have the afternoon to enjoy the festivities, reconvening back at the boat for a sail over to Pigeon Cove. This is a great base for exploring the Jacques Cousteau Marine Park, known for its vibrant coral reefs. That evening, we can enjoy the hot springs that come off the side of the cliffs there into a small, informal bathhouse, and a beautiful sunset to the West from our remote anchorage.

Day 4:

Happy Mardi Gras! Although celebrations will be happening all over Guadeloupe, Basse-Terre boasts the most extravagant celebration of them all. Blending ancestral traditions with boundless creativity, Base Terre hosts the Grand Parade on this day. Late in the afternoon, we sail away from the party and over to Les Saints, a small jewel of an island off of the main island. Anchoring in the gorgeous Baie de Marigot for the evening, and watching the sunset fall on a beautiful Mardi Gras Day.

We will stay anchored in Les Saintes for the day, exploring the island of Terre- de- Haut. Fond- du- Curé, the main settlement on the island, is a quaint fisherman's village with a European feel, world class restaurants, and historic architecture. There are golf carts and scooters in the village for daily or hourly rental, which is a fun way to explore this petite island. For those of you that love a good walk, it is a scenic journey to walk across the island to the beautiful Plage de Pompiére, an incredible beach with shade and excellent snorkeling.

Day 5:

Day 6:

After a leisurely breakfast and perhaps a swim, we will sail over to the less inhabited island on the Saints, Terre- de - Bas, spending the day lounging on the beach, exploring the creole architecture and artisan workshops of Petite- Anse, or on hiking trails through the lavish landscape of the island. It is said that this island is a step back in time, and we will enjoy our tranquil evening, anchored in one of it's bays.

Day 7:

A quick sail over to another island in the archipelago, Marie- Galante, we will anchor off of the main village for the day. This is an easy home base for you to choose your own adventure. There are many beautiful places to sit on the beach and enjoy a cocktail or French wine, walk to nearby rocky, wild beaches, walk on trails through the mangroves, or tour a rum distillery. This island is also rumored to be a great viewing spot for humpback whales, as they migrate through in February and March!
In the evening, we make our way back over toward the mainland, either back at our home base in Pointe-a - Pitre, or at a nearby anchorage, enjoying our last sunset together (for now!).

Who is this trip for?

This type of trip is best for adventurous spirits who want to see the world from a different perspective and travel in one of the most romantic ways possible. Although the inside of the boat is welcoming and has plenty of space, we spend the majority of the time outdoors. It is important to know that although our chartered boats are excellent, being on a sailboat still feels more akin to "glamping" than being in a fancy hotel. We refrain from using the generator and AC at night, so that we can hear the ocean and peacefully watch the stars. Although the trip will be more of a container for adventure than a guided tour, we strive to understand and engage with the cultures we visit, rather than simply pass through as tourists.

Ferd and I feel that cooking on a boat is one of the most fun parts of being on a voyage, and we will take the lead for meals so that you can enjoy having no timeline for your vacation. However, we do ask that you submit one dish per cabin ahead of the voyage that you would enjoy making for the group, and we will make sure that you have those ingredients aboard the boat to make one lunch or dinner during our week together. That said, this is not a requirement, simply an invitation.

If that all sounds like you're kind of trip, then this voyage is for you! Again, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out.
